Hi, I'm so glad you're here!
My name is Beverly Ondera. I’m a wife, mother of three adult children, and grandmother of two. I love nature, perennial flower gardening, taking walks, or hiking. I enjoy running and I ski with my family. I’m a state-licensed professional therapist and I own a counseling private practice in Chillicothe, Ohio.
My desire is to connect with people in their difficulties and disappointments. I’ll help you gain life skills to move past negative emotions or a painful life event thereby enabling you to move on with a happier and more productive life.
Connection is important. I want to connect on a deep level with those who are struggling with difficult thoughts and emotions. Those who have experienced painful life circumstances often feel stuck and unable to move past their reactions, sometimes causing depression or even panic attacks. Being able to walk alongside others on a path towards inner healing and wellness is an honor for me as a therapist. Together we can find the peace of mind we all long for.
Relationships issues: Relationships with others are often affected by our negative or hurtful life experiences. Coming to a counselor will help you navigate difficult relationship issues and bring about reconciliation and peace with family and friends. Families with divorce and remarriage often need the support of a therapist to navigate tumultuous relational waters.
Anxiety often keeps us from aiming high. I can help you learn how to extinguish anxious thoughts that prevent you from succeeding and maintaining a restful state of mind to bring about confidence.
Focus: I want to help you focus on the right things. Focus on things you have the power to change and avoid concentrating on what you cannot change. Focusing on things you cannot change is like living the life of a gerbil going around and around on a wheel but you are not getting anywhere. During therapy, we will determine together what things are healthy and beneficial for you to think about, and look for unnecessary and harmful thought patterns you might have.
Education: I received my formal education at Ohio University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Counseling. After graduate school, I spent five years of my professional career working with a diverse client base at a community mental health center. This afforded me the opportunity to hone my skills as a counselor. Desiring a change in my career, in 2021 I launched a private practice in order to serve the community through individual and couples counseling.
Religion: I am a Christian. I love God, his Word, and I depend on his guidance. Knowing Him brings me peace and rest.
